“AW Bamboo” refers to AW Bamboo Enterprises Ltd., a Ugandan company focused on sustainable bamboo processing, reforestation, and providing value-added products like fresh and processed bamboo shoots (malewa) and other related items. The company plants bamboo to combat climate change, control soil erosion, and restore ecosystems, particularly around Mount Elgon. They also operate a social enterprise model, working to restore the ecosystem and protect vulnerable communities on the slopes of Mount Elgon, while also providing bamboo for commercial purposes.
