Managing Director’s Statement
Given Uganda’s favorable weather conditions and wealth of arable land, Uganda’s agriculture sector has enormous potential, but its crop yields remain low. To harness the country’s agricultural potential, Grit Services Ltd is identifying and addressing constraints on agricultural development. By working with public and private actors to create a policy and regulatory framework that advances agribusiness, the activity is improving agricultural production and trade for farmers.
Agriculture is a cornerstone of Uganda’s economy, currently contributing approximately 24% of GDP, with agricultural exports accounting for 48.5%. Despite 80% of Uganda’s land being arable, only 35% is under cultivation. According to the Uganda Bureau of Standards (UBOS), about 68% of Uganda’s working population is employed in agriculture. At Grit Services Limited, we are dedicated to supporting sector players in transitioning from subsistence to modern large-scale farming.
As an agribusiness company, we cover the entire spectrum of food production, including the production, processing, and distribution of farm-based goods. The challenges posed by climate change have heightened the need to adapt to significant shifts in weather patterns. Our vision is to become the premier service provider both locally and internationally, underpinned by an unwavering commitment to customer focus, which remains at the core of our strategy.
We are steadfast in our efforts to deliver an outstanding customer experience through the continuous implementation of operational excellence initiatives and refined customer journey management. By consistently enhancing touchpoints and feedback mechanisms, we aim to elevate our service standards. Additionally, we are actively advancing our transformation agenda to offer our customers a more streamlined, efficient, and seamless experience in agribusiness, supply management solutions, and logistics management.
