Raising Empowered Foundation (REF) Champions Sustainability within Uganda, East Africa and beyond. As an advocacy and mentorship wing, it advocates for young people and enhances them with knowledge and skills through its programs and efforts. Notably, provides children and students with mentorship, coaching, networking, career and skills development.
REF has led various initiatives among promoting education, equity and inclusion including advocacy, campaigns and outreaches. It engages children and people in book club spaces, reading initiatives, book drives, and discussions on matters that affect children/ learners, communities, national issues and how to make the world a better place. It advocates for the reading culture, literacy, education, youth empowerment, good health, human rights and climate change.
It has worked and engaged with different stake holders, government institutions, nonprofit organizations, civil society groups, religious/ spiritual leaders and does community outreaches/ engagements especially in/with schools, hospitals and health centers, refugee settlements and host communities, displaced persons and people in vulnerable areas both rural and urban especially among children and the youth.
REF as a social not-for-profit is in the business of changing the world and making it a better place (more sustainable) focusing on social justice and climate change initiatives championing/ tackling quality education, mental health, early pregnancies and marriages especially among teenage girls, gender-based violence, sexual reproductive health and child protection. Through its initiatives and campaigns, thousands have benefited from its work and have been impacted, inspired and transformed over the years directly or indirectly.
