Batugemereku Farmers’ Kaliro Cooperative Society Limited (BFKC) is a dynamic, multipurpose cooperative organization deeply rooted in community empowerment and agricultural development within the region. Founded in 2014 as a Community Based Organization (CBO), its initial aim was to foster economic growth and alleviate poverty among the rural poor in Kaliro by introducing Village Savings and Loan Associations. However, in 2016, BFKC underwent a transformative re-profiling, evolving into a registered community-based organization governed by a Board of Directors elected from member organizations. This shift enabled the organization to adopt a dual commercial and developmental agenda.
In 2022, BFKC achieved registration as a multipurpose cooperative society, initially focusing on finance and agriculture programs. The finance program emphasizes financial literacy training, extending financial credit facilities (SACCO) and the implementation of Village Savings and Loans, while the agricultural program extends Agro-input credit facilities, modern farming method trainings, collective marketing and Bulking strategies.
Our Headquarters are in Namwiwa Town Council along Gadumire Road in Kaliro District. BFKC extends its operations beyond Kaliro, reaching districts such as Iganga, Luuka, Kamuli, and Palisa. Plans are underway to establish coordinating branch offices in these operational areas, further solidifying its outreach and impact on local communities.
