Detailed Business Information

Africa 2000 Network -Uganda (A2N Uganda) is one of the top leading indigenous Non-Governmental organizations in Uganda with over 30 years’ experience in mobilizing, organizing and building the capacity of grassroots small and medium scale farming communities to practice sustainable agriculture as a means to secure their food security and livelihoods

Africa 2000 Network (A2N) was conceived in 1986 at the United Nations (UN) General Assembly Special Session on the Critical Economic Situation in Africa. It was a project initiated and supported by the United Nations Development Program in 13 African Countries (in East, Central and West Africa) to support community based projects aimed at environmental protection and promotion of ecologically sustainable development for improved livelihoods. Africa 2000 Network started operating in Uganda in 1990 and piloted direct implementation of grassroots projects in the area of sustainable agriculture.

The project was very successful and after an end of project evaluation it was considered appropriate that A2N be established as legal entity whose main objective was to consolidate the achievements of the project through continued mobilisation of grassroots farming communities in Uganda.
