Gifted Hands network is a social enterprise founded in 2015 and legally registered in 2017 with the REG/No: 80020000363808. We aim at reducing breast cancer death rates among Women in Uganda and increase the employability of the Visually impaired women. We recruit and medically train visually impaired women to become certified medical tactile examiners that conduct the early breast cancer
detection and prevention using their well trained and heightened sense of touch to palpate the breasts. The training transforms their disability into an ability, and the well trained superior sense of touch of a blind woman can early detect breast cancer lumps much more effectively than an able bodied doctor and in return blind women earn a sustainable income and also save lives of other women from breast cancer. Remember once early detected, breast cancer can be cured using the local treatment methods available in Uganda.
Our uniqueness is that Early breast cancer detection is done by well-trained visually impaired women certified as medical tactile examiners using their genius,
heightened and well trained sense of touch. The blind women use it as an opportunity to create employment for themselves. They save lives of women using pleasant private measures that do not expose the client to the harmful radiations and X-rays. Service is of quality, affordable and confidential.
