Detailed Business Information

Good Briquette Initiative Ltd collects biomass (coffee Husks) from various farmers` collection centers around the communities, its packages in sacks and delivered at the factory.

The biomass is preconditioned at the factory by drying it to remove the moisture and once its ready with the allowable moisture, its then ready for carbonisation.

The dried biomass is carbonised to form biochar, mixed with binders, molded and pressed to form the briquette. Its then dried, a sample burnt to ensure market readiness (lasting more than 90 minutes), tested for drop tests and if it passes all the quality checks, its packaged in sacks of 50kgs and sent to the market for sale.

Our key route to market strategy are restaurants, charcoal road side stockiests, Food markets and later on, schools, Poultry farmers, hospitals and large retailers.

Our pricing strategy is that of market entry and we are 30% cheaper, kilo on kilo vs charcoal with higher burning times (30 minutes more).

Our current challenges are mainly on logistics (to remain competitive on price) as well as unstable power supply amidist limited finances to secure an alternative to power and a small vehicle.
