THE HER STORY
HER Working Women has been a journey of growth, empowerment, and connection. In 2019, our founder, Dr. Nataliey Bitature, noticed a recurring theme, many young women reaching out to her were seeking the same guidance and support. To address this, she started a WhatsApp group to foster engagement and build a community.
What began with just 80 women quickly grew to 200, highlighting the need for a larger platform. In May 2020, we transitioned to a private Facebook group, “HER – A Business and Career Development Community for African Women,” to create a safe space for women to share, learn, and grow. Within just four months, our membership soared to 2,000 women, and today, we proudly stand at 3,700 members.
HER Working Women has expanded beyond borders, with active chapters in Jinja, Mbarara, and even Dubai. These chapters host events, workshops, and networking opportunities, ensuring that women from diverse regions can connect and thrive.
In 2024, we launched HER Finance SACCO, a groundbreaking initiative designed to empower women financially. Starting with savings as the foundation, we’ve introduced loans and financial literacy training to help women plan, save, and grow their wealth. Today, HER Finance SACCO has over 200 members, each taking steps toward financial independence and resilience .
This community is more than just a group, it’s a movement. It’s a space where women uplift each other, break barriers, and redefine what’s possible. Together, we’re building a future where African women can lead, innovate, and inspire.
