KadAfrica began as a small horticulture project in Fort Portal, Uganda, employing a handful of farm workers. Through relationships with local farmers and the community, it was recognized that we could create real household-level change for men and women by providing them with the skills and resources necessary to generate a protected income. KadAfrica registered as a private enterprise 2012 and began bigger-scale passion fruit cultivation. Since then, we have expanded operations and grown our impact to reach more than 5,000 smallholders in rural Western Uganda. In 2018 we launched our non-profit, which is responsible for implementing the “KadAfrica Experience”. An age and gender-specific curriculum and complimentary family programming and advocacy component developed in 2015 and designed to work specifically for young women.
